I made these a couple weeks ago, because I needed something for my hands, but I didn’t want that ‘lotion’ feel…. I had actually used my homemade lip balm (recipe coming soon) and ribbed it on my hands… it felt so good, so I decided to modify it a little and make Lotion Bars.
They’re really simple.
Here are the ingredients you will need.
- 1/2 cup Shea Butter
- 1 Cup Coconut Oil
- 1 cup Beeswax
- 15-20 drops Young Living essential Oil
- Silicone molds or baking tray
It’s super easy to make these, here’s what you do:
-In a small saucepan melt beeswax and coconut oil until smooth and completely liquid.
-Stir in shea butter until it has dissolved.
-Remove from heat and add the Young Living Lavender essential oil to scent. At this stage, I like to start with 10 drops and keep adding a little at a time until the strength of the fragrance is just right and not too overpowering.Once you have the perfect scent, pour ingredients into molds and allow to set overnight (or, if you’re in a hurry you can pop them in the freezer for 30 minutes or so).
-Remove from molds (or if using a baking tray cut them to the desired size/shape, you could even use a cookie cutter) and store in a cool, dry place!
These lotion bars are amazing! I made mine with lavender, but you could absolutely use whatever essential oils you like. What is your favorite?
I think I might try adding a little Tee-Tree next time or maybe even Frankincense. They are both amazing for your skin!
These make wonderful gifts… wrap them in cute paper or little bags, tie them off with some hemp string and if you have a sprig of lavender, pop that in it. Perfect gifts for Mother’s Day or for teacher gifts, and simple enough that you can have the little ones help you.
Here’s a little label for you if you’d like to print it off and pretty them up!
